WHAT’S ON

Lent Course and Optional Lenten Meal

This Monday 17th March at 6.00pm at St James, Chapelthorpe.

This year’s Lent Course is based on the book and film titled ‘The Shack.’

It describes the experience of a man whose faith is floundering and who is consumed with hatred and guilt against the person who murdered his young daughter.

Anger at God who allowed it to happen and anger at himself for not realising earlier that his daughter was missing. He feels compelled to visit the shack where his daughter was murdered and there, he meets Papa, Jesus, and Sarayu, who represent the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He then starts his own Lenten journey of questioning, struggling and ultimately moving from darkness to light. The course will be challenging but also rewarding as we journey with him.

We meet for the next four Mondays starting at 6.00pm to discuss different aspects of the film and theology.

Men Behaving Godly Group

Did you know that men are a minority group within church congregations. As we all appreciate on the whole men are shy and timid creatures and may find churches a bit daunting. With this in mind we are holding a monthly mens group where we can chat about God, the world, items on the news and basically chew the cud.

After a lot of in depth research we think we have found the perfect setting where men may feel comfortable, relaxed and come together in a safe environment aka the pub!

We meet in The Bay Horse Public House, (30 Stoney Lane, Chapelthorpe WF4 3JN) on usually the last Tuesday of most months at 7pm. You don’t have to be a member of any of our congregations to come along – all are welcome.
